Warsaw Village Band
OOR-sprongen: Poolse folk met een rauw randje
Grote Zaal / € 22.50

In Polish they are called: 'Kapela ze wsi Warszawa’ and internationally they operate as the Warsaw Village Band. The six members have been raising their voices against the advancing, global, mass culture for almost fifteen years now. Melodies with a medieval tint are played on the fiddle, hurdy-gurdy, cello and deep drums and go hand in hand with trance inducing grooves, abrasive Eastern European polyphony and dub and scratch. It is high time for them to bring their urgent musical message music to Segbroek, the ‘Little Warsaw’ of The Hague. www.warsawvillageband.net

CONCERT FANFARE KADRIEVI
OOR-sprongen: Wind music from the Balkans
Grote Zaal/ € 19.50

Anyone who has ever seen the movie Time of the Gypsies by acclaimed filmmaker Emir Kusturica, will remember the soundtrack with the shrill, swinging and driving sounds of a little Balkan brass orchestra. Blowing from the depths of their souls for the performance were the Fanfare Kadrievi brass players, one of the many Roma brass orchestras from the Balkans. The Orkestar Mladi Braka Kadrievi (the group’s full name) consists of no less than forty players who are all generations of the Kadrievi family of musicians. They play music from the Balkans, but they feel most at home with the jumpy rhythms and with the blood, sweat and tear soaked melodies from their homeland, Macedonia. Six Kadrievi members will travel to The Hague for this performance at De Regentes. www.kadrievi.com

EXTRA: 14.00 hrs. See the film Time of the Gypsies in The Ketelhuis/ Entrance is free but you need to make a reservation.
